The IC693CMM311 is a high-performance communications coprocessor module tailored for the Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platform. Formerly produced by GE Fanuc, the module is now part of Emerson Automation’s product portfolio, serving as a key component for enhancing PLC communication capabilities.
This module enables CCM (GE Fanuc Communications Coprocessor Module) protocol, Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) protocol, and SNP (Slave Node Protocol) connectivity for host controllers, with specific compatibility limited to modular Series 90-30 CPUs—it cannot be used with embedded Series 90-30 CPUs such as the 311, 313, or 323 models. Notably, modular Series 90-30 CPUs (model 331 and later) can support up to four IC693CMM311 modules simultaneously in their baseplates, maximizing communication expansion potential.
Equipped with two 25-pin D-shell serial ports, the IC693CMM311 offers flexible interface options: Port 1 exclusively supports RS-232 electrical standards, while Port 2 is versatile, accommodating RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 applications. A practical design feature is the dedicated "push-to-restart" button, which allows reinitialization of communications without rebooting the entire module—simplifying troubleshooting and maintenance.
Both ports support extensive protocol configuration combinations to adapt to diverse industrial communication needs, including: CCM on both ports; CCM on Port 1 with RTU on Port 2; RTU on Port 1 with CCM on Port 2; RTU on both ports; SNP/SNP-X on both ports; SNP/SNP-X on Port 1 with CCM on Port 2; CCM on Port 1 with SNP/SNP-X on Port 2; SNP/SNP-X on Port 1 with RTU on Port 2; and RTU on Port 1 with SNP/SNP-X on Port 2. Supported transmission baud rates for CCM, SNP, and RTU protocols include 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, and 19200.
Wiring convenience is addressed through compatibility with the pre-assembled IC693CBL305 Wye connection cable. Since both serial ports are wired to a single connector on the module—potentially complicating wiring—the IC693CBL305 cable enables port separation, streamlining installation for technicians. The module can be configured either via a default setup or dedicated configuration software.
For real-time operational monitoring, the IC693CMM311 is equipped with three status LED indicators: MODULE OK (for overall module health), PORT 1 (for Port 1 communication status), and PORT 2 (for Port 2 communication status)—providing clear visual feedback to simplify system diagnostics.
